Emergency Planning
Preparing for Emergencies: What you need to know.
The Government sent out an information booklet entitled "Preparing for Emergencies - What you need to know" to every home in the UK. It gives practical common sense advice on how to prepare for a variety of emergencies and what to do in the event of an emergency occurring.
The booklet was not produced in response to a particular threat. Research showed that people want more information about what to do in an emergency and want to know what the Government and the emergency services are doing to prepare for an emergency.
The booklet includes the sort of practical advice people said they would find useful. Most of it is common sense, but it can save lives. Basic first aid advice, who to contact in the event of an emergency, reducing hazards in your home and how to ensure you do not put others in danger are just some examples.
Public safety is the Government's number one priority - and people need to remain alert and aware.
Further information and an electronic copy of the leaflet are available from preparingforemergencies.gov.uk*.
