Shoppers Charter

This charter has been accepted by Leicester Market Traders.

It offers guarantees of quality and is a way of resolving disputes.

The Shoppers Charter is available free of charge from the Market Customer Care Centre.

All goods sold must be:
  • lawfully in possession of the seller
  • lawfully offered for sale by the seller
  • as described - verbally, on the label, packaging or otherwise
  • of satisfactory quality
  • fit for any particular purpose made known to the seller
When buying goods from the market you should:
  • note the date of purchase and the stall number
  • only buy from stalls displaying a name board
  • ask for a receipt (except food purchases)
The trader should guarantee a refund or may offer a replacement.

If the goods are faulty, you do not have to accept a credit note.

If you want to complain you should report the matter to the Customer Care Centre. The markets officer will act to settle disputes.If you wish to take your complaint further, you can report it to Consumer Protection.
