Access to Meetings

Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings are generally open to the public to attend.

 

You can also submit questions and petitions to Council, Scrutiny Committees. Please click on the relevant links on the left hand menu for more advice on this or contact Democratic Support on 229 8818.

 

There will be certain occasions when Council Committees may need to discuss issues in private.  However, this can only be done for certain matters which are set down in law for example, issues relating to an individual or commercially sensitive matters.   The majority of business however is transacted in public.

 

Wheelchair Access

Meetings are held at the Town Hall. The meeting rooms are all accessible to wheelchair users. Wheelchair access to the Town Hall us from Horsefair Street (take the lift to the ground floor and go straight ahead to main reception).

 

Hearing Loops

A hearing loop system is availabe in the meeting rooms at the Town Hall.  You will need to be given a pack to use the system.  Please speak to the Democratic Services Officer at the meeting or call in advance on 229 8818.

 

Braille/Audio/Translation/Large print

If there are any particular reports you would like in another format, this can be provided.
