Help for Disabled Voters

Disabled People - Parking Permits (Blue Badge)
Disabled People - Parking Permits (Blue Badge)

If you have disabilities that prevent you from completing a ballot paper on your own, then you can take a friend or relative to the polling station to vote for you.

Electoral Services also provide special facilities to help voters with disabilities. This assistance includes:

  • polling stations to have level or ramped access

  • polling stations to have a polling booth adapted for people in wheelchairs

  • large print notices of ballot papers available in every polling station

  • special aids to enable blind voters to mark their ballot papers without assistance

  • the presiding officer at the polling station can help you fill in your ballot paper.

If you don't want to go to the polling station, you can vote by post. Voters with a disability can also have a permanent proxy vote.

Permanent proxy voting, available on the grounds of health, employment or full time education commitments (Permanent proxy form).
