Service Voters

Members of the Armed Forces
Members of the Armed Forces

Members of the Armed Forces may register to vote at their home address as a normal voter or as a Service Voter, if they live at a British Forces Post Office (BFPO) address or are stationed overseas.

Service Voters can complete an application form, which will be valid for 5 years. We write to you before the application runs out to enable you to renew your declaration.

You can join our Electoral Register so you can vote in future elections. Not sure what to do? Please contact us:

How do I vote?

You can vote by post but if you are overseas you will need to bear in mind that postal ballot packs are sent out about one week prior to an election. You need to ensure there will be enough time for the ballot pack to reach you and be returned to us, before close of poll on election day.

You can appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf. Someone such as a family member who can go to the polling station and vote on your behalf.

If you want to vote by post or proxy, please contact us:
