Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, English
Create your own magic castle and fill it with wizards and goblins! Construct a stage filled with Shakespearean characters! Start a mystery story in a scary house! You can set the scene for an exciting adventure at school, choose the characters for a mysterious 'who dunnit', or make up your own really spine-chilling story! Which fantasy world will you create today?

Teacher Notes
This is an activity which enables pupils to develop and enhance their writing by creating and exploring familiar and imaginary worlds on the screen, discussing the scene created and then using their story beginning as a basis for extended story writing.

First of all, you have to decide which setting you want for your story. You can choose from lots of different settings, like a wizard's dungeon, a creepy old house or a fairy castle. Some of them are real photographs and others are set in imaginary worlds. Next, you must choose the characters you fancy. By now you'll be getting some good ideas on how to develop your story. To add the finishing touch, add a few props like some bats and cobwebs! You can even add speech and thought bubbles too. Print your final story scene out and off you go to write your story!

The story scene prints out in portrait format by default. To print it out in landscape format simply change the printer setting in the Printer dialogue box which appears after you press the Print option in the activity.
