The activity can be used for assessment or reinforcement of children's understanding of number sequence and 'counting back' from 20 in steps of 2. This is a useful introduction to the 2 times table and supports the development of subtraction skills.
The screen displays a set of randomly placed number cards from to 1 to 20 with one card highlighted and the instruction '2 less than'. The child has to locate and click on the number card that is 2 less than the highlighted card. Clicking on the correct number will reveal the next random screen. To help the child, a question mark (?) appears at the bottom of each screen. Clicking on this reveals a temporary number line as an aid to counting back in twos.
An incorrect answer will prompt the child to try again. If they seem to be experiencing difficulty a message will appear asking them to seek help. On completion of the activity a final score appears.
