Adoption and fostering
Our fostering and adoption services are among the top performing in the UK. We train and support carers across Leicester, Leicestershire and the East Midlands.
What is adoption?
Adoption means becoming a new 'forever family' for one of more children. If you are considering this, please contact us for an initial discussion. We will tell you how best to take things forward. We will help you through preparation, assessment then finally matching you to a child. We will also support you from then on.
We have extensive experience of helping hundreds of singles and couples to adopt.
What is fostering?
Fostering involves looking after children until they can return home. This will either be to their birth family or a new permanent adopters.
Fostering can be short-term, for a few weeks or months but sometimes longer. We also recruit permanent foster carers who bring a child into their family for the long-term. This is like adoption. The main difference is to do with the legal status of the child.
Leicester city's fostering service is rated as 'outstanding' by OFSTED.
Other types of foster care
Short breaks carers offer regular breaks to disabled children. These are usually one weekend a month.
Sometimes young people in care have little or no contact with their families. The only support they receive is from professional carers. We recruit independent visitors who befriend young people living in care.
