Leicester had a fantastic summer of celebration as it marked the arrival of the Olympic torch and the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Olympic flame arrived in Leicester on July 2nd and Leicester was one of only a handful of cities in the UK chosen to host an evening event. The torch left the city from Leicester’s Space Centre on July 3rd.
There were activities and street entertainment on Humberstone Gate as the Big Screen showed the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games on July 27th and now we are looking forward to the Paralympic Flame arriving in the city on August 25th.
