Line-up announced for Abbey Park Bonfire

Published on 29 October 2015

THE line-up has been revealed for live music and entertainment at the city’s biggest bonfire and fireworks display.

The headline act at the Abbey Park display, on 7 November, will be Sheena Mchugh, who was a semi-finalist on The Voice this year on Will.i.am's team.

Race the Horizon, a Manchester three-piece who were wildcard selections on Britain’s Got Talent, are also on the bill.
The three-piece soul, funk and urban vocal group have recently signed a major record deal and supported Little Mix on tour.

First on stage on the night will be local lad Benji Williams.

The stage will be hosted by Gem106 breakfast presenters Sam and Amy.

Leicester’s biggest annual fireworks display and bonfire opens at 5pm, with last entry at 7.30pm.

A children’s firework display starts at 6.45pm, and has been specially designed for a younger audience, with fewer bangs and flashes than the main display.

Two giant robots – the Globots – will take centre stage at 7.20pm for a laser show, before Race the Horizon perform ahead of the main firework display, which starts at 8pm.

There will also be a large funfair and plenty of food stalls.

Advance tickets – offering up to a 35 per cent saving on the normal price – cost £4.50 for adults, £3 for concessions and £13.50 for a family ticket admitting two adults and two children.

They are available from Visit Leicester in Gallowtree Gate, De Montfort Hall, New Walk Museum, local city libraries, Leicester Leys, Braunstone, Aylestone and Evington leisure centres, De Montfort University and the University of Leicester.

On the gate, tickets will cost £6 for adults and £4 for concessions. There will be no family tickets available on the gate.

A free bike park is available at the event.

Assistant City Mayor for culture, heritage, leisure and sport, Cllr Piara Singh Clair, said: "Once again this promises to be a fantastic celebration with something for all ages, including a programme of live music, a children's fireworks display and the funfair and food stalls.

"The lighting of the bonfire and the main fireworks display is always a spectacular sight, and I'm really looking forward to this year's events getting underway."
