A CITY primary school is celebrating its ‘good’ rating after a recent Ofsted inspection.

Knighton Fields Primary School, off Saffron Lane in Leicester, was praised for its effective leadership, quality of teaching and early years provision.

Inspectors said the headteacher and senior leadership team at the school had “successfully raised the quality of teaching and have had a significant impact on lifting teachers’ and pupils’ expectations.” They noted that pupils’ progress was accelerating so that they make good progress in all year groups.

They added that pupils’ personal development and welfare was good, and that governors are active and involved at the school.

Headteacher Helen Tarokh said: “We’re delighted to have achieved our ‘good’ rating. I’m so pleased that inspectors have acknowledged the hard work of everyone connected with the school.

“Teachers, support staff, parents, governors and children have all had a key role in raising standards and it’s fantastic that our efforts have been recognised.

“We’ll continue to work hard so that every child at Knighton Fields enjoys school and gets the best out of their education.”

Cllr Sarah Russell, assistant city mayor responsible for children, young people and schools, added: “This is a great result for Knighton Fields. The majority of our primary schools are good or outstanding, so it’s fantastic news that we can add Knighton Fields to that list. I want to congratulate everyone associated with the school.“
