Half-term fun in Leicester

Published on 10 February 2017

THERE’S lots going on in Leicester during the half-term break – with plenty of activities at the city’s museums, libraries, leisure centres and parks to keep youngsters occupied.

Young basketball fans should head for Evington leisure centre, where they’ll be able to learn new skills at a week-long basketball camp, there’s splash disco at Braunstone leisure centre, and a family fun day at New Parks leisure centre, with free swims, free activities and a bouncy castle.

Beaumont Leys library is running a Puppet Monster workshop, Braunstone Park will host the Nature Detectives, and the Guildhall’s the place to go for a Frosty Fun day.

Abbey Pumping Station will celebrate the arrival of ‘Clyde’ – Leicester’s vintage car – with a Crafty Car day, there’s a Valentine’s Day-themed craft day at Newarke Houses Museum, Jewry Wall museum looks at medicine through the ages, and New Walk Museum hosts a range of activities, including a Dino Doodle drawing day and a Fossils in Focus workshop.

And the Leicester Comedy Festival has got events for children at the Guildhall all week, with a free 20-minute comedy show – The 1000 Years History Show – repeated throughout each day, and there’s the chance to see ‘Lindsey and Ian's Incredible Improv Adventure’ on Sunday (19 February - tickets £4).
