Two seats carved out of Cornish granite with a carved inscription of the word 'Tranquillity' selected from artist led community poetry workshops, and translated into 18 key languages reflective of Leicester communities. Located in De Montfort Square in front of the statue of Robert Hall. The seat material echoes that of the Robert Hall Cornish granite plinth.
The artist believes:
"the seats will fit seamlessly into the environment around them and will accentuate the curves and aspects of the landscape and architecture in the square. While the seats will be very strongly sculptural shapes, the inscription provides a little subtlety and hopefully a small diversion for passers by."
Dimensions/Materials:
The Cornish Granite seats are constructed from 3-stacked cylindrical blocks each measuring 1m long x 0.75m deep x 0.80m high.
Location:
De Montfort Square
