Green Routes
Leicester has an extensive Green pathway system, incorporating canal walks, cycle paths and the unique Riverside Park. Winding through the city alongside the River Soar and the Grand Union Canal, Riverside is a fascinating patchwork of green spaces linked by waterways, footpaths and cylcleways. As well as forming part of Leicester's wildlife conservation areas and local nature reserves, these Green Routes have strong links to the industrial and recreational heritage of the city. Rich in social history, cultural and environmental resources, Riverside holds the key to the story of Leicester through the ages. Artworks are located at strategic points to reveal and enhance the historical and ecological richness of the area and to recreate a unique Riverside jouney.
