Research and Intelligence

Research and Intelligence picture
Research and Intelligence picture
Along with our partners, the council undertakes a range of research activity to increase understanding about future trends, local needs and good practice.

This includes:
•    Surveys, for example on housing need or bus journey times
•    Public meetings and focus groups
•    Analysis of existing datasets, for example the Census
•    Production of statistical estimates, projections and forecasts
•    Reviews of good practice
•    The preparation of reports that pull together evidence on a topic from a variety of sources.

Latest research findings and reports

Our research work generates information and intelligence which is used to improve planning and service delivery in a range of areas:
•    Statistics and Census Information
•    Health and Wellbeing
•    Housing
•    Crime and Community Safety
•    Inclusion and Equality
•    Economy and Labour Market
•    Transport
•    Environment and Planning.

Public involvement and consultation

We aim to make sure that the decisions we make and the services we provide are informed by local people’s concerns and aspirations.

You’ll find details of our consultations – past, present and future – at leicester.gov.uk/haveyoursay.

Improving research and intelligence

The council’s Research & Intelligence team works to improve the co-ordination and delivery of research activity and to make the information and insights from research accessible to a wider audience.

Current projects include:
•    State of the City report
•    The Survey of Leicester
•    Using the Census to better understand the diversity of local neighbourhoods
