County school transfer
If you live in Leicester and your child will attend a county primary school in year 5, or a county high school in year 9, you can find information here.
Please note all applications made after Monday 31 October 2016 for county school transfer in autumn 2017 will be treated as a late application.
Important changes to the county school transfer process
From autumn 2017, a number of Leicestershire secondary schools are changing their age ranges to become all-through schools, starting in year 7 (age 11). No secondary schools will have a year 6 (age 10) intake.
Pupils which previously transferred school for year 6 will now remain at their Leicestershire primary school until the end of year 6.
Three Leicestershire schools will still have pupils transferring at the end of year 9 to an upper school.
- Brookvale High School, Groby
- Ivanhoe College, Ashby
- Ibstock Community College
Only complete a county school transfer, if you meet the following:
- Your child is living in Leicester City
- Your child is attending one of the 3 above schools in year 9
- You need to apply for a year 10 place in a county upper school.
You will be able to apply for a year 10 place in a county upper school from Monday 12 September 2016.
You must complete your application with us and we will co-ordinate with Leicestershire County Council who will make the decision.
Closing date - midnight on Monday 31 October 2016
All applications received after this date are treated as late and will be dealt with after those received on time and you are less likely to be offered a place at your preferred schools.
