Data Protection and FOI
The Council's Information Governance team(IG) provides specialist skills and consultancy to the Authority in the areas of:
- Data Protection; and
- Other information and ICT related legislation; for example
- Computer Misuse Act (CMA);
- Copyright, Design and Patents Act (CDPA);
- Environmental Information Regulations;
- Freedom of Information Act (FOIA);
- Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA);
- Lawful Business Practice Regulations (BPR);
- Information Law aspects of Article 8 of the Human Rights Act (HRA) and e-law;
- Production of corporate policies in the fields of security and information legislation; and
- Retention and disposal of Council information; plus
- Auditing to ensure compliance with corporate governance standards.
