Permit Scheme

FREE!! Permit to recycle household materials. 
 
  • All vans/pick-ups and trailers over 1.4m long will need a Permit to use the Freeman Common Community Recycling Centre.
  • Permits will only be issued to city residents.
  • For Health and Safety reasons permits can no longer be issued for Bridge Road Recycling Centre.

The Permit System is designed to STOP non-household materials being disposed of at these sites. 

Construction Materials Limits.
There will be the following limits on the amount of Construction Materials per Permit:

  • 6 bags of soil or rubble (equivalent to 0.5m3)
  • 4 windows
  • 4 doors
  • 4 kitchen units
  • 1 bathroom suite.

Amounts greater than these will need either a hired skip or to be taken to a private Waste Transfer Station.
 
Waste Transfer Stations
There are commercial waste transfer stations located in and around the city where you can take your own materials. A CHARGE IS MADE FOR THIS SERVICE. Look in the Yellow Pages under Waste Disposal Services.
 
How do I get a Permit?
You can apply for a Permit by telephone, or fax between 9.30am and 4.00pm Monday-Friday (number is below) or you can apply online below.
