Introduction
Waste collection is a major service provided by the council to every household in the City of Leicester. This service is undertaken on behalf of the council by a private contractor, Biffa Leicester.
Every week the collection service will visit over 120,000 dwellings across the city. collectively generating 145,000 tonnes of domestic waste a year, each household producing, on average 1.15 tonnes.
