What happens on collection day?
Wheeled bins and your Recycling Box should be ready for collection at 7am on collection day. Bins and Boxes should be presented at the ‘Kerbside’ (i.e. no greater than 2 metres from the curtilage of the property) or an agreed collection point.
Elderly and/or disabled residents who are unable to handle their bins for presentation at the kerbside can request an Assisted Collections service.
The lid of a wheeled bin must be closed and no side refuse, other than the Recycling Box, should be presented for collection.

Leicester City Council does not collect Hazardous Waste from householders and therefore the following items should not be put in your wheeled bin:
- Asbestos material
- Building and construction waste
- Motor oil and used cooking oil
- Used paint
- Vehicle batteries
It is the personal responsibility of the householder to make arrangements with a private contractor in order to get Hazardous or Special waste removed.
