Overview and Scrutiny
The Council has a process by which its work can be scrutinised. Following the recent Local Elections changes have been made to this process.
The scrutiny process consists of an Overview and Scrutiny Management Board, a Performance and Value for Money Select Committee, Health Scrutiny Committee and Task Groups.
Overview and Scrutiny Management Board
This meeting oversees the scrutiny process and directly scrutinises policy or service changes. It also decides on issues for Task Groups to consider in more depth.
Members of the public can submit questions or petitions to this Committee. See the links below for advice on how to do this.
Performance and Value for Money Select Committee
The role of this committee is to scrutinise performance delivery within Leicester City Council and its partners. This includes monitoring efficiency, scrutinising the annual budget setting, and identifying areas for more in-depth work for the Task Groups to investigate.
Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee
This committee scrutinises Leicester's Primary Care Trusts and other health care bodies to ensure that health care services are provided. The City Council also hosts the Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Joint Health Scrutiny Committee, which scrutinises health issues and provision which cover Leicetershire and Rutland.

Task Groups
Various task groups will meet as and when necessary to investigate issues in-depth, as directed by the Overview and Scrutiny Management Board or Performance and Value For Money Select Committee. These Groups are not formal committees and may meet in public or private, as appropriate.
