Leicester City Joint Area Review (JAR)
What is the Joint Area Review?
The JAR is part of the new integrated inspection framework of children’s services and examines how services are contributing to the well-being of children and young people.
This system wide inspection covers all publicly-funded services for children and young people, including those that are directly managed or commissioned by the city council, as well as services provided by health and youth justice services.

Well being is defined in terms of the five outcomes described in “Every Child Matters”:
- Be Healthy
- Stay Safe
- Enjoy and Achieve
- Make a Positive Contribution
- Achieve Economic Well-Being.
JAR inspectors visited the city from the end of January 2008 for two weeks.
If you work with children and young people it will affect you.
