Tony Dewhurst transferred to Ofsted as an HMI from CSCI where he was a Service Inspector from 2004 after full-time secondment to the DH and DFES as a Quality Protects Regional Development Worker. From 2000 he was seconded on a part-time basis to the DFES on the Education Protects team responsible for supporting councils to implement the joint guidance to improve educational outcomes for looked after children. He began work teaching in a comprehensive School for two and a half years before becoming a residential care worker and subsequently qualifying as a social worker. He has variously managed and had policy/strategic roles across a range of childcare services.  He has undertaken Annual Performance Assessments and JAR inspections from the beginning of the programme. Tony is CRB cleared.
