Documents to be produced at the City of Leicester Register Office

The Register Office will ask you to produce the following documents:

Your passport.
Your birth certificate if it was issued in the United Kingdom.
Evidence of the address at which you reside e.g. driving licence, a bill for
council tax/gas/electricity/water/phone or property rental agreement.

If you have been married previously and are divorced:

Your divorce decree absolute bearing the court stamp issued in the United Kingdom

Your original divorce document(s) bearing the court stamp issued outside the United Kingdom, together with a translation if the document(s) is not in written in English.

If you have been married previously and are widowed:

A death certificate for your late wife/husband issued outside the United Kingdom, together with a translation of the certificate if it is not written in English.

If you have changed your name:

Your change of name deed (often known as the deed poll) or your statutory declaration of change of name.

If you have not yet had your 18th birthday:

The written consent of your parent(s) and/or guardian(s). We will supply a special form for this purpose when you attend the City of Leicester Register Office.
