Exclusion Reasons
The DfES guidance explains the reasons that Headteachers may and may not use to exclude a child from school.
Examples of acceptable reasons to exclude:
• Drug or Alcohol related incidents
• Bullying
• Sexual Misconduct
• Damage to property
• Theft
• Violent/Threatening Behaviour
• Racism
Examples of Unacceptable reasons to exclude:
• Breaking school uniform rules or rules on general dress code
• Not bringing in dinner money
• Poor academic performance
• Lateness or truancy
• Pregnancy
• Forgetting to do homework
• For the behaviour of their parents
