Improving Schools for the Future
Welcome to the School Improvement Policy area. This policy has been developed to support all schools and educational settings in Leicester to be successful and effective places of learning and is be based upon relevant Central Government policy and guidance, for instance the Education and Inspections Act 2006, Schools Causing Concern (2007) and School Improvement Partner’s Brief (2005).
The Policy for School Improvement aims to clearly define the ways in which the Local Authority will work in partnership with schools and governing bodies to raise standards. It also aims to set out the ways in which it will support, challenge and act to improve schools where this might be necessary.
A draft Policy for School Improvement was circulated to headteachers, governing bodies, and other partners and stakeholders including Trade Unions, Voluntary Action Leicester etc as part of the consultation process from April 2007 until 14 May 2007.
Revised version
Following consultation, a revised draft of the Policy for School Improvement was produced and the finale version was approved by Cabinet on 4 October 2007. You can download a copy of this revised version from the bottom of this page.
