Library Strategy

Leicester Libraries is proud to announce the launch of “Better Libraries-Better Lives”, the Libraries Strategy for 2008-2013, following approval by the Leicester City Council Cabinet in May.

Building on a track record of successful work combating social exclusion that began in 2001, “Better Libraries-Better Lives” identifies several areas for action including;

  • Making library services more accessible
  • Promoting reading and learning to improve quality of life
  • Supporting mainstream learning provision for children and adults
  • Responding to changes in society and use new technology to improve services to reduce the digital divide

“Better Libraries- Better Lives” will contribute to the long term vision for the city outlined in the “One Leicester” sustainable community strategy developed with a wide range of stakeholders by the Leicester Partnership.
