Leicester’s Favourite Book - Winner!

Winner - To Kill A Mockingbird

Voting has finally finished for Leicester’s favourite book and the winner can be revealed as To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Devoted readers in Leicester’s Libraries were first asked to nominate their favourite books. Hundreds if nominations were received across all of Leicester’s 16 libraries.

The top 12 nominated books were then announced and voting commenced both via the Libraries website and through polling slips at libraries.

It’s fantastic that our Leicester readers are so enthusiastic about books and took the time to vote in our poll. We have many services and resources in our libraries but something like Leicester’s Favourite Book reminds us what is at the heart of library services. Reading!

Runners up in the poll were Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, Catch 22 by Joseph Heller and The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.

Leicester’s Favourite Book was part of the National Year of Reading and Leicester Libraries will be putting on events and promotions for the rest of the year. These include author visits, poetry readings and a graphic novel promotion. More information can be found at (NYOR Events)
