Leicester Libraries’ Summer Scheme, FREE for all 0–15 year olds, runs from Saturday 5th July to Sunday 31st August 2008 in all libraries and on the BookBuses.

The Summer Reading Challenge™ is simple – read six books during the summer, through your local library. Children are given a special pack and stickers to collect as they read, with a certificate, medal and Mr Stretchy toy for those that successfully complete the Challenge.

Pick up your FREE Team Read pack at your local library from 5th July, or anytime during the holidays and collect other free sporty stuff.

Competition – Create a Sporting Poster for Leicester

  • Create your own sporting poster for Leicester Special Olympics
  • Prizes to be won in the following age groups: 0-4, 5-8, 9-15yrs
  • Winners to be invited to a special award ceremony
  • Entry forms available from any Leicester Library, BookBus, Sports Centre or you can download a PDF version below.

Details of Team Read events at your local libraries can be found here.

An interactive Team Read website will be launched in June (www.teamread.co.uk), linking children with top authors and illustrators whilst giving them space to talk about their favourite books and share reading ideas.

Can’t find the right book? Ask a Team Read volunteer for children’s reading advice at one of our special Book Gym sessions at the Central Lending Library every Monday between 21st July -18th August (11am-1pm).

Not a member of the library yet? This is a great time to become an active part of your library and take part in this year’s exciting summer. It’s FREE to join and take part. Join at any Leicester Library – no I.D. needed, or join online here.
