Leicester Libraries for all Young People (0 - 15 years)

Anybody can join the library: It's FREE and simple. 
  • Parents and carers can join children as soon as they are born!
  • There is no form filling, ask at the counter and you can join straight away, or join on line now by clicking here
  • Wherever you join your membership is valid at all Leicester Libraries.
  • Children can join themselves. We will send a welcome letter to the parent or carer to confirm that the child has joined.
Bookstart
Bookstart 
A national programme aiming to provide every child between 0 – 4 years of age with FREE packs of books and information. Includes: 'Bookstart' (For babies 0-12 months), 'Bookstart+' (toddlers 18–30 months), 'My Bookstart Treasure Chest' (children 36–48 months), 'Booktouch' for partially sighted babies and toddlers and 'Bookstart Book Crawl'.

  • Special collections for parents and carers.

Borrowing

  • Children may borrow up to 12 books at one time.
  • Loans are usually for three weeks.
  • There are no fines on books or story-tapes for children aged 15 years or under - However we do expect items to be returned on time
  • There is no charge for book damage for children aged 15 years or under - However we do expect you to take care of items

Study Support / Homework Help
Study Support / Homework Help 
Regular sessions, run by trained staff, for 8-16 year olds, are held in a number of city libraries. Information and resources are available, including: Books, encyclopaedias, FREE access to computers and the Internet. There are also printing & photocopying facilities available, plus much more.

Also: FREE Online Resources: online books, encyclopedias, newspapers and magazines  - available to library members either in libraries or from your home computer.
