If the development proposal involves works within the highway, you must apply to the City Council for permission under the Highways Act 1980 and/or the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.

 

Such works include:

 

• Placing of skips or storing of building materials
• Scaffolds, hoardings, safety fencing, temporary or mobile platforms
• Construction of or alterations to footway crossings
• Excavations and other alterations to the highway
• Temporary traffic regulation orders
• Building adjacent to watercourses
