LRC Masterplan

LRC Masterplan

The Leicester Regeneration Company (LRC) is a partnership working for physical regeneration in central Leicester. Its mission is to strengthen the city's economy and to improve its environment and image through targeted redevelopment. The LRC Masterplan was launched in November 2002 and the company is now working with the public and private sectors to deliver its proposals.

The Masterplan is a vision for change in central Leicester over the next 10 years. It is regeneration with a purpose – it examines the long-term needs of Leicester – its economy, jobs structure, housing supply, shopping and general image and asks what physical change in central Leicester can contribute to all these.

The Masterplan proposes five Key Projects:

1. Creating a new business quarter
2. A science and technology park
3. Widening the city's retail circuit  (inc. Highcross Leicester  development )
4. A new residential community
5. Developing the waterfront
