Skin Piercers
Under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, premises where ear piercing, tattooing, electrolysis and acupuncture are carried out have to register with the City Council. The proprietor of the business must also register.
The application forms for registration of premises and persons can be downloaded here.
The premises are then inspected to ensure they are adhering to the relevant byelaws and health and safety legislation.

Body Piercers
Legislation has recently been passed to allow the City Council to require that businesses carrying out general body piercing be registered.
We are currently in the process of arranging for new bylaws to be approved and will introduce the full registration scheme later in the year.
