The maintenance of a brook or watercourse is the responsibility of the owner of the land that it flows across. However, as the Land Drainage Authority, the city council cleans and maintains Leicester’s major brooks and watercourses to reduce the risk of flooding. 
 
Blockages to brooks, flooding problems relating to brooks, and water pollution should be reported immediately.
