Article 4 Direction: 201-247 Aylestone Road

The Article 4 Direction relating to 201-247 Aylestone Road was made by the City Council on 2nd March 1983, and approved by the Secretary of State for the Environment on 30th August 1983.

The effect of the Direction on these properties is that a planning application must be submitted for:

  • Extensions, improvements and external alterations such as new windows and doors.
  • Construction of porches.
  • The removal of gardens and garden walls to make a hardstanding for parking vehicles.
  • The erection or construction of gates, fences, walls or other means of enclosure in the garden.
  • The rendering or painting of the brickwork.

In addition, these properties, together with the adjacent Gas Museum (no 195) were listed grade 2 in September 2004.
