Article 4 Direction: South Highfields Conservation Area

The South Highfields Article 4 Direction was made by the City Council on 14th September 1981, and approved by the Secretary of State for the Environment on 1st October 1981.

The effect of the Article 4 Direction is that a planning application must be submitted for:
  • Extensions, improvements and external alterations such as new windows and doors.
  • Construction of porches.
  • The removal of gardens and garden walls to make a hardstanding for parking vehicles.
  • Rendering, stone cladding or painting of the brickwork.
