Public Realm Strategy

The city has been transformed with the city's streets and spaces having a facelift through the implementation of regeneration initiatives. The key features have included opening up city streets and using high quality materials. The work has resulted in improved economic activity that ranges from cafes in Market Street to retail at Highcross.

These initiatives for public realm improvements have taken place across the city centre - the areas include; Curve within the Cultural Quarter, Colton Square and the retail circuit.

LRC Master plan

The Leicester Regeneration Company (LRC) mission is to strengthen the city's economy and to improve its environment and image through targeted redevelopment. The LRC Masterplan was launched in November 2002 and the company is now working with the public and private sectors to deliver its proposals.

The Masterplan is a vision for change in central Leicester over the next 10 years. It is regeneration with a purpose - it examines the long-term needs of Leicester - its economy, jobs structure, housing supply, shopping and general image.
