Upperton Road is a key east west link and a vital part of the main transport network in the city of Leicester. A section of this road is carried by Upperton Road Viaduct, which is over 100 years old and in a poor state of repair. It is proposed that Upperton Road Viaduct is replaced with a new low-level highway, a new bridge over the Old River Soar and a pedestrian/cycle crossing.
