The Leicester Regeneration Company Masterplan

The Leicester Regeneration Company Masterplan

The Leicester Regeneration Masterplan, published in July 2003, is guiding the work of the Regeneration Company (LRC) and informing the City Council's review of land use planning policy in central Leicester.

The Masterplan is designed for achieving specific objectives to see improvements in Leicester's performance as a place and as an economy

The project options produced during the earlier stages of the Masterplanning process were subject to a sustainability appraisal carried out by Roger Tym and Partners in conjunction with the City Council. It presents opportunities for improving the sustainability of development that will be expected to last 60 to 100 years or more

With a timescale of over ten years, the 2002 Masterplan is evolving as it is rolled out. Frameworks are being prepared for each of the 5 regeneration areas:

  • Business Quarter - Office Core
  • Science and Technology Park - Abbey Meadows
  • Retail Circuit - City Centre
  • New Community - St Georges North and South
  • Waterside - canal and riverside

Supplementary Planning Guidance will be progressively introduced so that development reflects the intentions of the Replacement local Plan.
