Apprenticeships
- Leicester City Council's Adults and Housing department runs an apprenticeship scheme for craft trades, which covers plastering, carpentry, decorating, bricklaying, plumbing, electrics and gas servicing and maintenance.
- The department recruits to the scheme annually. There are normally between ten and fifteen vacancies each year.
- The course lasts five years. At the end of the course the craftsmen and craftswomen will have gained NVQ2 Maintenance Operatives, NVQ2 Gas (Corgi registration) and NVQ2 Domestic Installations (Electrics).
- We are actively seeking applications from females and from males and females from ethnic minority groups. For information about free taster courses for women see our Women in Construction page.
