The Local Housing Allowance rate is only the starting point for working out your entitlement. The amount you receive will depend on your household's income and savings, and any non-dependants living with you. This means that your Local Housing Allowance could be higher, or lower than the amount of rent you have to pay. However, your entitlement will never be higher than the applicable Local Housing Allowance rate in the table above.

If your entitlement is higher than your actual rent, you may be paid up to £15.00 per week more than your rent liability. If your entitlement is lower than your actual rent, you will have to pay the difference yourself.
