Why might my housing application be rejected?

Your application will be rejected if you are under 16 years of age or ineligible to join the Housing Register. You will be treated as ineligible if:

- You are in a category that central government says is ineligible (for example, asylum seekers).
- You are 16 or 17 years of age, not owed a duty of care by the Local Authority, and have been unable to meet Council Conditions of Tenancy requirements.
- You have given false or misleading information on your application form, or failed to notify the Council of any material changes in circumstances after submitting your application.
- You (or someone else in your household) have been convicted or had legal action taken against you (or them) because of anti-social behaviour, harassment or violence; or if you or they have been responsible for physical or verbal abuse towards Council staff, Council contractors or agents or any Housing Association staff.

Your application may also be rejected if you do not provide the required proof with your application form. If you do not provide required proof with the completed application form, we will return the form to you with a letter advising you which proofs are required.
