Leicester Energy Agency
Leicester Energy Agency was developed in line with the city's role as Britain's first Environment City and European Sustainable City in 1996.
With funding provided by the EC through its SAVE II programme the Agency is a partnership between the City Council and De Montfort University which seeks to:
- Implement energy efficiency improvements in homes and businesses in Leicester
- Address social, economic and environmental policies by helping to improve affordable warmth in homes
- Create new markets and jobs in energy services
- Reduce local and global air pollution.

Community Renewables InitiativeThe Community Renewables Initiative will help local people and organisations devise and implement renewable energy developments that are environmentally sensitive.CO2 Emissions ManagementThe Leicester Energy Agency offers a service to UK Local Authorities to manage their greenhouse gas emissions. This can help Local Authorities respond to the Climate Change Levy and targets for greenhouse gas emissions and renewable generated electricity.Energy User CruiserThe Energy User Cruiser is a fully mobile conference centre that has been designed and built specifically to deliver business and domestic energy efficiency advice to the maximum audience.Electric BusThe Leicester City Council Electric Energy Advice Bus is used to demonstrate various programmes and schemes to promote energy efficiency and the adoption of renewable energy resources to businesses, homes and schools within Leicester.Enthuse SchemeThe aim of the project is to provide information to Local Government’s to enable them to be more effective in implementing and encouraging renewable energy schemes.Objective IIGrants for Energy Efficiency & Clean Technology for Leicester Businesses. Aimed at businesses in Leicester employing less than 250 people to help them save money and become more environmentally friendly through the East Midlands Objective II European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).SHEEBAThe Leicester Energy Agency has been participating in the development of energy analysis computer software that may be used with small/medium sized businesses and local authorities.SIRENScenarios for Integration of Renewables in a European cities Network. SiREN’s central aim is to provide non-technical support to foster R&D projects dissemination and help overcome non-technical barriers.SMEEACSmall to Medium sized Enterprise Energy Advice Centre. The Energy Savings Trust together with the Carbon Trust has launched a new service called Action Energy to give advice to Small to Medium sized Enterprises.
