In addition to the 80% charitable relief, the qualifying charity or organisation can also receive discretionary rate relief on the remaining 20% of the charge.
Discretionary Rate Relief can also be given up to 100% of the rate bill to other non-profit making organisations including clubs and societies established and conducted wholly or mainly for recreational or sporting purposes.
Discretionary Rate Relief applications need to be made as soon as possible as there is a time limit within which we need to make an award. The latest we can grant a reduction is six months after the financial year the application relates to.
