As part of the Festivals and Events Unit, a specialist music officer provides strategic development and management for music festivals and events, in addition to providing practical advice and assistance.

 

As well as working in partnership with established festivals including Leicester International Music Festival, Early Music Festival, Pride, Summer Sundae at De Montfort Hall, Caribbean Carnival and Mela, there is also ongoing development of the Leicester festivals programme with a focus on music. Local, regional and national promoters and organisations are supported and encouraged to bring events to Leicester. 

 

Advice and information is also provided to city based groups, organisations and individuals interested in developing music festivals and events. Support includes practical assistance on funding and making applications to funding bodies.

Information is provided to city based bands, studios, venues, organisations and individuals, with practical advice on current funding schemes and support initiatives. Although grants cannot be provided directly, assistance is very successfully given in helping groups, organisations and individuals apply for project funding through schemes such as The National Lottery, Community Grants and Arts Council England - East Midlands (ACE-EM).
