Seminar Session A: Culture: Creating Economic Wealth

The session was an offsite visit comprising of a tour of the Cultural Quarter. The tour explored the role culture is playing in the transformation of a run down area of the city into a superb visitor attraction and creative hub. Leicester’s bold and imaginative performing arts centre will be one of the UK’s most prestigious venues when it opens its doors in 2008 and the award winning LCB Depot provides studio space and support for creative business.
 
Seminar Session B: Culture Regenerating Neighbourhoods

This seminar was an offsite visit comprising of a tour of the Peepul Centre. It is a flagship community led regeneration project in the heart of Leicester’s Asian Community, in a multi-purpose centre. The delegates were given a tour of the centre which incorporates an auditorium, restaurant, cyber café and dance studio, children’s development centre, training, conferencing, health and well-being wing and fitness suite.
