The City Gallery provides an active learning programme for groups of all ages and abilities with a dedicated ‘Learning Space’ for ‘drop in’ activities, workshops and events.

 

 

This is a dedicated area for learning and is open to visitors as an active and creative space. This is where the majority of our workshops take place but we also have simple activities and lots of art materials out for you to use – completely free! Come to the gallery and use this space for you and your child(ren) to create fantastic art work, all you have to do is telephone the Learning Officer to check if the space is available.

 

Feel free to sketch an exhibit or produce your own unique artwork inspired by the exhibition. We can provide your group with paper and drawing materials. Please call the Learning Officer to book in advance.

 

Groups are welcome to attend the Gallery for unaccompanied Gallery tours, research and drawing sessions. There is a family gallery guide in the Learning Space which will help you to interpret the exhibition and suggest ways to explore the artwork. It is essential that groups book in advance to ensure that the Gallery is able to accommodate them. Please contact the Learning Officer to book.

 

Ideal for groups visiting the gallery, the Art Detectives activity sheets provide questions and trails that take you around the main and craft galleries, helping you to make the most of your visit. Please telephone the Learning Officer to book in advance.

 

All our children and young people workshops are listed on our website and are divided into categories – Family, 3 – 7 years, 8 – 13 years and 12 – 17 years, all children aged 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult. These are usually an hour and a half to 2 hour workshops and are £4.00 (£3.50 conc.) per child.

 

We also have adult events and workshops which are featured in our main gallery brochure and website.
