Active Learning Sessions Key Stage 3 and 4

ACTIVE LEARNING SESSIONS KEY STAGE 3 AND 4

Led by our experienced teachers, these sessions give pupils the opportunity to actively explore curriculum topics in awe inspiring settings. Each of the the following sessions last for one and a half hours. Sessions include:

Newarke Houses Museum
World War One - new for September 2008
Pupils studying 20th century conflict at KS3 or GCSE will find this session provides a fascinating insight into life during the First World War.

Pupils take part in a range of activities, including exploring a replica trench and handling objects. These activities help to expand their understanding as they go on a journey from causes of war to Armistice.

The Guildhall
Medieval Realms - new for September 2008
What would be a better setting than the 600 year old Guildhall for exploring medieval life?

When in this unique building, pupils will use their investigative powers to try to work out the uses of various unusual medieval objects. They will also discover the pros and cons of armour as they dress a knight ready for battle.

Next to the Guildhall is Leicester Cathedral- once the richest church in medieval Leicester- making this an ideal spot then, to also consider the power of the church in the middle ages.

More Key Stage 3 and 4 sessions are in development. Sessions for Science, English and Citizenship will be launched in 2009.

We can often meet other needs that your school may have, so please do contact us if you wish to visit independently or if there is a topic you would particularly like a session to focus on.
