Red Woman
Red Woman
Frans Marc
1912, Oil on Canvas,
In this image Franz Marc has depicted a naked female within a landscape setting.
Marc was not concerned with naturalism; here the simplified forms have been painted in non represented colours.
The whole image has been painted using a limited palette - the dominant colour is red. Marc was a member of the German art group called Der Blaue Reiter. The members of this group were linked by their idea to express emotions through colour rather than using it in a representational way.
