Land and Life: The Landscape in Art
Semper Eadem (Always the Same): Familiar Interiors of Leicester
Saturday March 1st - Sunday October 12th
Land and Life: The Landscape in Art looks at how artists have captured the landscape in their paintings. Works on display are taken from the museum’s rich collection of art, ranging from the 17th to the 20th century, including masterpieces like Lowry’s ‘Industrial Landscape River Scene’ and van Ruisdael’s ‘River Scene with Fishermen’. Other artists include Auerbach, Bomberg, Trevelyan, Fulleylove and Nash. Additional works to be loaned to the exhibition include pieces by David Blackburn and German artist Mariele Neudecker.
An ‘exhibition within an exhibition’, is contemporary artist Maxine Beuret’s Semper Eadem (always the same): Familiar Interiors of Leicester. The exhibition, a special installation of photography and video, goes behind the doors of some of the city’s most familiar, yet sometimes overlooked places.

Memories and Dreams of Life and Light
